Sunny was born in Little Rock, Arkansas . At the age of three, he and his family moved to Birmingham, Alabama. In the beginning of 1991, he graduated from high school and joined the army. He soon found himself being sent to Iraq for Operation Desert Shield/Storm where he met Wolf McDog. They became good friends. During Desert Storm they were promoted to sergeants. In 1995, they met Blick Blanks, who had just joined the army, and they became friends. In 1997 their friend John Clark was forming Omega, and they joined it.
